Website Creation

My most recent freelance project involved creating a website for a client that just started their own business, "Be A Reader!, LLC". The purpose of this business is to provide individualized reading support for young children. My process for creating this site was very fun and rewarding. I started out by talking with my client about their goals, likes, dislikes, etc. to figure out the direction that the site should go. I then began creating a simple color palette and chose some font styles which then brought me into the process of creating the logo. My goal for the site was to keep the "vibe" simple but also nice to look at. My client requested incorporating a hummingbird into the site somehow because it had personal meaning to them, I instantly knew that the logo would be a perfect place to showcase this! You can check out the website to see what it is all about and see my creative decisions that were made to bring the site to life!

While attending NYU SPI, I had the opportunity to create a digital media brand and a book imprint from the ground up. For the digital media brand, I was assigned to the audience development team and for the book publishing section I was assigned to the sales/rights team. Throughout my time contributing to these projects, I learned so much and was able to contribute my knowledge to help the group succeed, these projects were some of the most rewarding assignments I've ever participated in!

New York University Summer Publishing Institute (SPI) - Brand Creation Projects

This project was completed for my Professional Writing Technologies course at Radford University. The project required students to create 5 document designs which focused on applying the document design elements we learned in class. Some of these included layout sins, persuasion, works-every-time layout, and the effectiveness of the document.

Unsolicited Proposal

The Radford University Harvey Knowledge Center (soon to be renamed) is the main Coaching center located on the Radford University College Campus. The Center offers tutoring services in all academic areas as well as study skills, time management, test-taking strategies, and resume/cover letter writing. Any RU student can schedule a coaching appointment and meet with a fellow student to go over any course-specific assignments they have. After working two years as an Academic Coach and Office Assistant at the center, I prepared an unsolicited proposal that called for Coaches to have the opportunity to attend more coach trainings as well as the center as a whole to have more social gatherings in order to build a stronger community. The proposal is broken down into sections including budget, project plan, survey, etc.
